Tahoe Legends of Snowboarding

Donner ski Ranch was one of the first resorts to allow snowboarding and in 1985 held the World Snowboard Championships. Tahoe's roots go deep into snowboarding and every winter the Tahoe Legends pull out their vintage gear and come together to play in the snow, share old story's and listen to some good ole rock. This year the venue for the event was a hand dug halfpipe complete with hits, jibs and bonks. In order to compete you had to meet one of the following criteria below.

a. 1983 – 89 World Championships
b. 1983 – 89 US Open
c. 1985 – Sierra Snowboarding Championships, Soda Springs, CA
d. 1986 – Subaru Snowboarding Championships, Donner Ski Ranch
e. 1987 – 89 California State Snowboarding Series or Ragen’ at the Ranch Snowboard Series.
f. Any OP PRO snowboarding events or the US Open, 1989 or earlier.

Chris Roach, Jim Rippey, Rocket Reeves, Jeff Brushie, Mike and Tina Basich, Noah Salasnek, Joel Gomez, Terry Kidwell and Tom Burt where just some of the legends that came out to ride and hang out.

It was pretty amazing to stand next to the pipe and watch these guys shred the pipe with the same gear and style that they did in 1985. If you are anywhere near Lake Tahoe in March next year, I highly recommend you make it up to Donner Ski Ranch to partake and support the Tahoe Legends of Snowboarding.
