The Ride Shakedown has been the hottest contest in Canada for many years. I have never attended but have heard story's about the intense set up and crazy party's. After many years of continued success they decided it was time to bring the Shakedown to the lower 48. Summit at Snowqualmie was given the task of living up to all the hype and putting on a great event. Sessions team riders Andreas Gidlund, Tim Humphreys and E-Man Anderson went up to battle the other 29 riders for a podium spot.
The Shakedown runs a unique contest format in which you have a 90 minute jam session but only get two judged runs. You can take as many runs as you want and once you are feeling it you have to call out your trick before you drop and you get judged on that run. You can only call a trick once, so weather you land or fall you have to move on to another trick on your second run. Tim Humphreys tried a cab 900 on his first attempt but reverted so on his second run tried a cab 1080 but couldn't quite put it down. Andreas Gidlund went switch backside 720 over the jump and a frontside 360 tap over the spool pillar landing him in 5th place.
But it was E-Man Anderson that put down a run that the judges thought was worthy of a podium spot. E-Man went switch backside 720 over the jump to switch 5-0 down the rail landing him in 3rd and making him two thousand dollars richer!
The 2010 Ride Shakedown series will continue April 2-3, heading home to Mont Saint-Sauveur, QC. The trademark Canadian event of the season, the Quebec version never disappoints. For more, head to shakedown.ca.
