Snow returns to Tahoe!

January 15th, 2010
By Brett Butcher

Tahoe has been in quite the dry spell as of late. It was feeling more like April than January. The jet stream and weather has finally shifted and bringing Tahoe much needed snow. One of my best friends and photographer Abe Blair (www.blindmanphotos.com) came up from San Francisco to get in on the fun at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. Here are some photos from the other day. Rumor has it that Tahoe is going to get 5 to 10 feet next week!

Brett and Abe stoked!

Taylor Carlton met up with us late in the day. Yep fresh landings 4 hours into it!

If you haven't had the chance to ride Alpine on a Powder day i suggest you get on it.... You will not regret it!

Andreas Gidlund Disney Update

Andreas Gidlund is currently filming a TV show with Disney. The purpose of the show is to mentor an up and coming snowboarder or skier. There are 3 skiers and 3 snowboarder pros mentoring the kids. Here is an update from Andreas.

France has been pretty fun!
My main mission here is to guide and be a mentor for my norwegian kid Stian. We've been shredding pipe and jumps.

It was fun to get to know stian a bit, his a real talent, quite shy but i guess your shy when your 12 years old…
He did really good during these days and at the contest,
i think his strong points are jibbing and kickers!

The hotel we were staying at was super nice! Sick rooms and super good food!

Im pretty happy im not a movie star… because having 5-6 huge cameras in the face the whole day isn't super fun.
And especially not when you have to wait around a lot and do a lot of retakes. One scene we did we had to walk 10 meters, and we had to do it 10+ times!

Anyway its been quite fun to do it and i think its good their doing something like this for kids!
Its a great way to show the sport and get more kids involved!

So keep your eyes open for this show.Disney will show 6-8 episodes during 2 months. 1 new each week, then a 30 minute episode for the final.im not 100% sure when its suppose to air but i know the Final show is in April so should be feb – march i guess!

So get Disney Channel XD right now! :)

Southern Califormia Update

Reps have a tough job. Constantly on the road, doing clinics with snowboard shops and pushing the brands they represent. If your reps don't do their part, it is hard for your brand to grow. Chris Dunham is one of the best. He takes care of Sessions, Flow and Axion in Southern California. This winter Chris has put together a solid team of rep riders for Sessions and they are turning heads at Big Bear. If you are up riding at Mt High and Big Bear keep an eye out for Chris and go say hello!

Sessions Get to Know a Pro!

This weeks question is from Dallas Scharf to Tara,

Tara,
There has been alot of epic riders on sessions over the years. I've been riding since 95' and now that I am 30 I don't keep up on the most current riders anymore. I came across the FB challenge to ask so,eone on the team a question,. I was suprised to see you are the only one left that I really know of. So my question to you is , 'Who is your favorite past sessions rider that you've shredded with"? I think my favorite sessions rider ever is a toss up between T.J. and Stephen Duke. Thanks!
-Dallas Scharf

Dallas....sessions has had a lot of great riders but my two favs are probably Jamie Lynn and Mike Ranquet. It was good times traveling with them and Matty Goodman...you should check out the old video Viva La Sessions if you haven't already.
Some good time before snowboarding got to Olympified.
Have a great season!!

FOURPLAY™ With Brett Butcher

Brett Butcher's 29th back yard B-Day Bash

January 5th 2010 was a great day. The sun was out, it was warm and Brett Butcher was turning 29. I have always been envious of friends that live in homes with a hill in their back yard. Up until this winter, all of my yards have been flat. So needles to say I was super excited to learn that our new home has a hill to build a back yard park on. We have been working hard for the past couple weeks to get this park ready for our friends to ride and play on. The yard has it all, BMX rhythm section, tree bonk transfers, wall ride, jumps to the roof, a big jump and even a down canoe! I won't go into details about the day, lets just say everyone had an amazing time and things got boarded on hard. Danger Zone was there to document the action. Look for an edit to hit the world wide web in a few days! Thanks to everyone who came out to laugh, play, hangout and make this one of the best B-Days ever!

E-Man Anderson ON DECK

Getting an On Deck is not an easy feat anymore. You have to be one of the top up and coming riders in the game for Snowboarder to dedicate two pages to you. Now imagine getting an On Deck in the annual Snowboarder guest editor issue, whom the guest editors are JP Walker and Jeremy Jones. If that's not enough, how cool would it be to have JP Walker pick you out of all the potential riders out there and have him interview you and write your intro to your On Deck.
Pretty crazy. Well that is exactly what happened to E-Man Anderson. Congrats on your On Deck E-Man! Go pick up a copy of Snowboarders new Guest Editor Issue, on the shelves now!

SESSIONS Get to Know a Pro!

December 26th 2009
By Brett Butcher

This weeks question is from Kelly. I sent it over to Mr Kyle Miller.

There is a human boy, a shark, and a donkey in a pool. Who wins?
and,
Do you have any tattos?
If so where, and what is the meaning behind them?
Thank you for taking the time to read my questions.
(:
Kelley.

Yo Kelley,
As for question one, the human boy wins. The shark dies because he is in fresh water and the donkey dies because he cannot swim. Right???
I do not have any tats though. If I could get some tats that would go away in like a year or two I would load up on em. Full on neck, back and sleeves. I have some friends that do the sweetest illustrations that I would love to slap on the ol body. I would like to get some Montana stuff cause that is where I am from and grew up. Some beavers, lions, sharks and stuff doing human actions would be sweet too. Like a big fat beaver smoking a cig or chewing on Pinocchio's leg would be ill.

SESSIONS Get to Know a Pro!!!

December 15th 2009

This weeks question is from Danika Richard,
Tara, Im a 14 year old girl and I want to become a pro rider like you....so I
was wondering what are the best (small) contest you have been to when you where younger and started snowboarding?

Hey girl, when I was 14 I had just barely started getting into contest so good job in getting out there and givin it a go. There are a lot more contest these days. I did some USASA and Grand Prix’s. Those maybe a little harder to get into now but Jams like the Peanut Butter rail jams are cool and fun.
Small contest pop up all the time like the Flaunt it Tour....I don’t think that going anymore but just keep your eye out for ones like that and register early. I’m sure your local mountain does some to. Any contest is good experience and a good way to be seen to get noticed. USASA’s are more of a circuit but they are GREAT!! And very Organized.
Hope that helps and hope to see you out there. Ill remember your Name.

Keep having fun!!

TD

Happy Birthday Tim!

December 15th 2009

Its hard to believe that it is only December 15th. Usually this time of the year means snowboarding on man made snow and icy parks. Lake Tahoe has been getting slammed by huge storms and the riding has been amazing. Here are some photos from the past few days.

What everyone woke up to in Tahoe a few days ago. Doesn't get any better...

Riding up the backside at North Star...

The next day we rode Alpine Meadows... it was DEEP...

And COLD...
