Malay Day 2009 Recap

Beaver Creek, CO April 14, 2009 - Malay Day is an event held each year in honor
and loving memory of snowboarder Josh Malay who lost his life while
snowboarding in 2004. Malay Day is celebration of Josh's life, where friends and
family are inspired to "live and love life" in his memory.

For the 6th consecutive year and the first with Beaver Creek as the host, Malay
Day was a smashing success. More than one-hundred (100) competitors signed
up as crowds of on-lookers were scattered throughout Beaver Creek's
snowboard park. The park staff did a great job laying out three (3) different
sections for riders to hit including; the upper “Lumber Yard”, the “Half Barrel”
half-pipe and the main “Rodeo Terrain Park”.

The top to bottom competition was judged on overall performance throughout
the entire park. As the sun emerged, the “Rodeo Terrain Park” became the main
session of the competition, where riders were expertly executing the rails and
hip. There were many standout performances during the day, but in the end, it
was clear that Billy Rodriguez was the overall winner. Please visit
