Drew's solo mission up Seegrube

So today I decided to venture from our house up in the hills above Innsbruck to check out a jump thats being built for us at Seegrube (say-grub-a). Seegrube is one of the many local resorts surrounding Innsbruck but its the only one that has a transport up to the tram from downtown. The first stop was at a little grocery store to find some food. I dont know where the miscommunication in my very broken German happened but I thought I asked for a ham and cheese sandwich. I got one sandwich with ham and one with cheese. Me being the clever person that I am, I took the cheese off one and put it on the other, killing it I know.

The Sandos

I love the mustard here that comes in the little self-serve toothpast container.

I got to the top of the tram and found my way through the mist over to the jump where Nick Franke (shaper) was working on the trannie. Its hard to see in the photos but the take off was built with a cat and it goes to a natural hip style landing. It will be intresting to see if it even works to be honest. Check back....

It was so misty at the top it was hard to see where the Apres-Ski was going down... ten o-clock to twenty o-clock.

Drew- Park Kicker Session 2

On Saturday we headed back up to the park jump from day one to see if we could get some shots from the glider. This guy who calls himself Adler (Eagle), who flies this motorized glider has been involved with multiple Pirate shoots but this was the first one where I had been included. Flo (the filmer) gets strapped on to Adler with a harness and away they go.

Drew-Stuck in Solden

For the last three days we have been staying up the valley in a cool ski town called Solden. Solden is the name of the resort where the park jump is, from the first blog post. Its a pretty big town, even this time of the season and tons of skiers still rushing for first chair and well... slush. Even with the modern look of the town and the two strip clubs on the main street there was almost no internet to be found. The little internet cafe charged 8 euros (about $11) for a hour and I decided that I was just going to wait till I got back to Innsbruck to do my internetting.
Cool gas pump

On this day (Wednesday, April 22) we drove up a few valleys from Solden looking to get high enough for some good snow. Unfortunatly the roads over the passes havent opend yet so we just decided to build a little quarter pipe to mini shred on.

Drew Fuller Back in Austria

Fresh off the plane on Tuesday we drove about a hour south from Innsbruck, to a resort called Solden. Those guys had pushed up a jump for a different shoot that didnt quite work, but after a couple re-shapes we swooped in there for a session. It started off a little questionable because the compression was kind of tricky. After a few straight airs though it got pretty serious. Chris Sorman started off with a straight air, bs 7, fs 10, bs 10 and some tries at a fs 12. Teo tried a few bs double corks and Mu and Grillo did multiple fs 10s.

You can see all the way to Italy from here!

GEORGE CROSLAND: Tahoe Final Weekend

                                                           ANDREAS GIDLUND

Sessions is a company that has been involved in snowboarding since the early 1980’s when Joel Gomez opened the first snowboard only store in the world. Now they make all sorts of kick ass stuff; clothing, outer wear and so on. Anyhow, the good people at Sessions had arranged for a little photo shoot up in Lake Tahoe with some of their team riders. Pretty much anyone would jump at that chance; Tahoe in spring, good riders, good weather, time to head up interstate 80 and on to Tahoe! It also happened to be the final weekend for a lot of resorts in the area.

Alpine Meadows

First day at Alpine! super super fun! kind of warm and slushy but it was alright, they had a pretty fun jump! Hard to get the speed because of the slush but we got some stuff!

Tomorrow we’re going back there with SnowRev.com to shot a interview and film some more.

Highlight of the day!

We were just cruising around and Tayler showed us a natural jump.

He told us to POINT it because there is no way to overshoot it...

So first they go and it looks just fine.

Then Brett drops in and just overshoost the hell out of it!

Maybe 4 m flat then a 5 m landing then a hill up on 3 m but he went over all of it... to his ass....

So I was like god damn… I’ll chill a bit with the speed...

Ye right.... pointed but instead of going over to the flat, I land in the uphill and faceplant...

No one got hurt but if we would have got it on film it would have been so fun to watch.... Now its barbecue time!!!

Brett enjoying the view....

Andreas Gidlund Update

We have been in Tahoe for a few days since the Colorado trip.

We had a bit of bad luck in Colorado with the snow. They had a dust storm the week before we got there and that made the new snow that landed on top of the dust super bad…

Warm weather and dust under = bad conditions….

Kind of bad for a 13 hour drive for 1 day of shooting then 13 hours back.

We all got shots from Colorado, so we were happy about it anyway… we had allot of fun during the way so it was all cool!

Since returning from CO, we have been shooting at Boreal for a couple days, got some cool and fun stuff!

Went up one day and checked out North Star as well, shot some trick tip stuff for our blog!

We’ve had a few days of sunshine witch has been awesome, snowboarding the whole day and barbecue and chill after!

Next few days we will be shooting up at Squaw Valley, we are looking forward to it! Keep checking in for new and fresh updates!!!

Sessions’ M4 Metallica Jacket

Sessions’ M4 Metallica Jacket

Scotts Valley, CA , April 1, 2009
- METALLICA… Do we really need to explain why this partnership is so special? No, but in case you have been living under a rock for the past 27 years here it is…

Metallica was formed in 1981 by Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield and today also includes Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo. Metallica is the biggest selling heavy metal band in the world and is the fifth highest selling music artist in history, with over 50,000,000 albums sold in the U.S. alone. In total, the band has released 9 albums, 3 live albums, as well as a multitude of singles, music videos, and has had five consecutive albums hit number one on the Billboard 200 charts - all of which has led to the band winning seven Grammy Awards.

Sessions’ connection to music has been growing ever since owner, Joel Gomez, first opened the shop doors. Today we see this connection as an essential influence on our brand. Our affiliation with Metallica stems from Joel’s relationship with Mark Reiter, from QPrime Management, and James Hetfield, who’s similar interests in skateboarding and snowboarding led them on a snowboard trip to Squaw Valley USA in Lake Tahoe, CA in 1997.

This jacket shows our true dedication to our roots, while still looking towards the future. This special jacket comes equipped with a two speakers found in the hood, an amp, and a custom control panel on the sleeve. Experience what the slopes can bring, with a jacket made for the elements and equipped with a speaker/amp system from Skullcandy, which includes musically inspired designs from the most popular heavy metal band of all time.

Malay Day 2009 Recap

Beaver Creek, CO April 14, 2009 - Malay Day is an event held each year in honor
and loving memory of snowboarder Josh Malay who lost his life while
snowboarding in 2004. Malay Day is celebration of Josh's life, where friends and
family are inspired to "live and love life" in his memory.

For the 6th consecutive year and the first with Beaver Creek as the host, Malay
Day was a smashing success. More than one-hundred (100) competitors signed
up as crowds of on-lookers were scattered throughout Beaver Creek's
snowboard park. The park staff did a great job laying out three (3) different
sections for riders to hit including; the upper “Lumber Yard”, the “Half Barrel”
half-pipe and the main “Rodeo Terrain Park”.

The top to bottom competition was judged on overall performance throughout
the entire park. As the sun emerged, the “Rodeo Terrain Park” became the main
session of the competition, where riders were expertly executing the rails and
hip. There were many standout performances during the day, but in the end, it
was clear that Billy Rodriguez was the overall winner. Please visit
http://www.snowboard-mag.com/?q=node/35045 for event photos and results.

Final Results:

Men:

1st Billy Rodriguez
2nd Andrew Steward
3rd Ricky Rodriquez
